Madhuri Dixit makes Rs. 1 crore a day?

By Hindustan Times

Madhuri Dixit-Nene is not on Kaun Banega Crorepati. Yet, she’s apparently getting richer by Rs. 1 crore every time she appears on TV. If sources are to be believed, that’s the amount the veteran actor, and now judge on Colours’s reality dance show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa, makes for shooting one episode. The show airs twice a week (on weekends), has already been on for three months and will run for another six weeks. You can do the math.

After her marriage, Madhuri did not make the strongest comeback in Bollywood (her last film was Aaja Nachle in 2007). Yet, her star appeal clearly hasn’t waned. She’s still counted among B-town’s A-listers, and continues to be very popular as a judge on Jhalak. Filmmaker Karan Johar and choreographer Remo D’Souza are the other two judges on the show.

The fifth season of the show is Madhuri’s second — she came on board in season four last year. About Madhuri’s expensive price tag, a source from the channel Colors says, “She is in the big league, so she gets Rs. 1 crore to judge every episode of the show.”

Also, in this season, she’s come on stage more often to shake a leg, be it with Salman Khan when he appeared as a guest, or sometimes during a regular episode.

Bollywood is notorious for being unwelcoming to married female stars. And judging from her track record, Madhuri was no exception.

It was the season four of the dance reality TV show that brought her back into the limelight last year. And so far, season five has only proved to be better for her. When contacted, Madhuri’s manager did not wish to comment while Colors dismisses it as a rumour.
