New Delhi, June 23 -- Basking in the success of his film 3 idiots, actor R Madhavan is all set to return to the small screen with Imagine's upcoming game show, Big Money. Set to go on air from 10 July, the show is Madhavan's third attempt at hosting game shows.
His earlier shows Tol Mol Ke Bol and Deal Ya No Deal couldn't create much fizz on prime time. He says, "Siddharth Basu (show producer) approached me for Big Money a month back. I loved the concept - a quiz show about TV shows, ads, cartoons and everything that appears on the small screen. It has family participation and being a family-oriented nation it will be fun to see how a family reacts under pressure to win the prize money of a crore."
Interestingly, Madhavan started his career with TV serials such as Banegi Apni Baat and Sea Hawks. So this is like a homecoming for the actor after a gap of five years. "And there is no other game show on air right now." And the actor admits the TV industry has changed drastically over the years. "With each passing year, TV medium is becoming extremely powerful. It has become all-encompassing."
So what does he find tough - hosting a TV show or acting? "Hosting a reality show requires more hard work than acting in movies. One needs charm to hold the interest of the audience." Maddy (as he lovingly called) has two films coming up. "Tanu Weds Manu is almost ready and I'll soon be off to Europe to shoot for a Tamil film with Kamal Hasan." He, however, is confident of holding his viewers as "I do one project at a time."
