Mumbai, June 4 -- It's been over five years since Rajkumar Hirani's Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006) wowed audiences. While Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Dutt shot for the promo of the sequel, Munnabhai Chale Amerika three years ago, the idea was shelved.
Now, the duo will return with their third film in the series, which is scheduled to start next year. In addition, fans can also see Arshad, best known for his his Circuit act, enact Dutt's Munnabhai-like character, in his next- Subhash Kapoor's Jolly LLB.
However, Kapoor says the only thing common between Jolly and Munnabhai, is actor Arshad Warsi. "It's natural to think that way," he says, adding, "But this film will be more like my last film, Phas Gaye Re Obama (2010). Unlike Munna, who wants to be an educated doctor, Arshad's Jolly is good-for-nothing person, even though he's a qualified lawyer."
In fact, Kapoor says that Jolly LLB is a satire on the judicial system of the country. "Considerable action takes place in the courtroom, but the film is primarily shot in a college campus," he reveals. Interestingly, the film was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan, just like Munnabhai MBBS was.
"But we couldn't take it forward," says Kapoor, all praise for his lead actor. "Arshad has the strength to communicate with the audience. While people still talk about his performance as Circuit in the Munnabhai movies, what he did in Ishqiya (2010) showed his real potential as an actor."
Jolly LLB will go on floors in October, informs Kapoor, who has already finalised locations in Satara and Delhi for the film.
