Katrina wants Salman to fund mother's orphanage
By Hindustan Times
It is well-known that Katrina Kaif's mother, Suzanne Turquotte, runs an orphanage called Mercy Home in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Now, she is set to take her benevolent plans a step further by building a school for the kids who reside there. In fact, Suzane is believed to have already bought land there
to construct the building. And Kat is hopeful that Salman Khan will support her mother's initiative through his own charity foundation, Being Human.
"Besides Suzanne, Katrina also takes part in all the major decision-making for Mercy Home as the project is close to her heart. They are now planning to build a school with modern facilities. But it's too early to reveal any details," says an insider.
Kat, on her part, confirms the news, saying, "I'm happy that my mom is so involved (in education and charity). Now, she's building a school since the children (from the orphanage) are growing up. She's bought a property close to Mercy Home. Hopefully, Being Human can help fund the school for us," she says.
Since its inception, Katrina has gone all out to endorse her mother's orphanage. In the past, she had auctioned her movie memorabilia and costumes, and passed on the proceeds to the organisation. She had also collaborated with AR Rahman for an album of nursery rhymes to raise funds for the project. "Although she is busy with back-to-back films, Katrina makes sure to check on the progress at Mercy Home. Her mother also keeps her updated about the charitable activities," adds the source.
