New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- Not many would have forgotten Aishwarya Rai Bachhan's near fatal accident when she was shooting foRajkumar Santoshi's Khakee. Incidentally, Kangna Ranaut narrowly escaped being crushed by a truck while shooting for Mani Shankar's Knock Out with Sanjay Dutt. The sequence in question features Ranaut reporting on Khan's character unwilling to step out of a telephone booth, thereby arousing suspicion of the law enforcing authorities. For the scene, a truck approaching the spot at high speed was required to go up in the air and come crashing down. Sensing the risk, Shankar suggested using a body double for Ranaut.

However, the actor, after hearing out his apprehensions, expressed confidence in doing the scene herself. So when the director called for action, the truck was blown up in the air, but instead of staying put after crashing down, it caught fire and went spinning down the road towards Ranaut, reveals a source associated with the movie. Recalling the stunt, Ranaut says, "After I heard Mani sir's briefing, I felt it was not such a risky scene. But yes, it was very shocking when the truck came spinning towards me at that speed."

The actor further adds that she got a feel of the real experience of what "journalists go through while reporting on such events - the need to stay focussed on the job while thinking on your feet".

Ranaut concedes that she was completely into the character of a crime reporter and now recalls the scene, relieved: "I just continued in that vein and also noticed the truck hurtling towards me. Thankfully, there was plenty of space on the side. So, I moved away in good time before the truck could hit me." Nagraj, co-producer of Knock Out is all praise for her presence of mind. "Not only was Kangna quick enough to move away, but she also helped get the perfect shot," he asserts.
