Actor Juhi Chawla records title track of Main Hoon Krishna, joins hands with santoor player Rahul Sharma and his fusion band for charity concert.

She sang two songs, Nanhi Si Gudiya… and Preeto… for Gurdas Mann’s Punjabi movie Sukhmani Hope For Life. Now, Juhi Chawla has recorded the
title track of a kiddie flick, Main Krishna Hoon, in which she also does a cameo, along with Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif.

“I warned Rajeev (director Rajeev Ruia) that he’d regret his decision, but he wouldn't listen,” she laughs.

“So I turned up at the studio, put on the headphones and tried to match the scales. It was exciting and unnerving because this was not a music class or rehearsal, but the real thing. They let me do the song in bits and pieces, polished it up and now it sounds quite nice,”

Ask her if she’s going to be cutting an album next and Juhi exclaims, “No way! I’d just like to record for myself, now and then.”

What about a song for the cheerleaders of her IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders?

“Well, they haven't asked me yet, they don’t know what they are missing!,” she jokes.

Meanwhile, today, Juhi will join hands with santoor player Rahul Sharma and his fusion band for a fund-raising concert at Mumbai’s Nehru Stadium, organised by the Mumbai Thalassemic Society (MTS), an NGO formed by the parents of children suffering from the ailment.

“I’m just going to be compering the show. I wouldn’t dare call myself a musician in comparison to Rahul and his band. It’s a worthy cause and one that I believe in.”

The actor got attached to the programme two years ago when she visited a centre in Kolkata.

“Once I saw these children whose life depended on these blood transfusions right from the time they were born, that was it,” she says, adding, “I visit them as often as I can and after every win of the Knight Riders, a cheque is immediately dispatched to the center. This musical evening is a continuation of our efforts.”
