JTHJ: Yash Chopra's final romantic signature song cancelled!

By Hindustan Times

Everyone was looking forward to Yash Chopra's literal swan song. His final song that would comprise all the quintessential Yash Chopra elements, the romance, the lilting melody, the Swiss alps among others.

While the veteran director had finished shooting the entire film, this last song was yet to be filmed and got postponed due to his illness. The romantic sequence to be shot wth Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in Switzerland was supposed to be the last time he wielded the megaphone.

But now, with the news of his demise, it seems that the song will be cancelled altogether.

A source told Mumbai Mirror, “No one wants to touch a single frame of the film. Jab Tak Hai Jaan has acquired a new significance now. Agreed that even earlier Aditya Chopra was overseeing the romantic portions of the film. And in all probability, he would’ve accompanied his father to Switzerland where the song was to be shot. But now with Yashji gone, adding anything in his absence will be inappropriate.”

“Without Yashji’s presence, adding anything to Jab Tak Hai Jaan would amount to tampering with his vision. Besides the film’s release is just less than a month away. So there is practically no time left," the source told Mumbai Mirror.

About the song
The song, we hear, was supposed to be as intensely romantic as Mere Dil Mein Aaj Kya Hai from Yash Chopra's Daag, the first film that Sr Chopra directed for his home banner Yash Raj Films in 1973.

The song was to be shot in the snowfall capturing the same desperate romance between Shah Rukh and Katrina Kaif that Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore projected in Daag.

For the shoot of the last remaining song in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, director Yash Chopra had a grand vision: a sari-clad Katrina Kaif romancing Shah Rukh Khan in the lush meadows of the Swiss Alps. But unfortunately, his illness and then his sudden death stymied the plan for the song, which would have reflected his trademark directorial style.
