Javed Akhtar replaced by Swanand Kirkire for Kai Po Che

Abhishek Kapoor’s upcoming film Kai Po Che faced many controversies even before going on the floors. The Rock On!! (2008) director had to wait for years to make his dream a reality and now it looks like there is another controversy in store for him. In the launch poster of Kai Po Che,
Javed Akthar was credited as the lyricist, but in the recently released poster, the veteran’s name has been replaced with Swanand Kirkire’s. We tried to get in touch with Abhishek about this change, but he was travelling to New Delhi and unavailable for a comment. However, a source close to the director says, “Their schedules didn’t match, so Javed saab couldn’t do the film. But both of them look forward to working together in the future.”

On being contacted, Javed says, “I couldn’t do the film as they wanted songs a bit sooner than I could give them. And I was in Delhi, busy with other commitments. It was a mutual decision that I should opt out.”

Ask him if the Farhan-Abhishek feud was the reason behind him not doing the film, and he says, “No, I don’t think so. To the best of my knowledge, they don’t have a problem. I would work with Abhishek if an opportunity came along.”

Though it seems that both Javed and Abhishek mutually decided not to work together, the fact that Abhishek got UTV Motion Pictures as the producer for this film, and not Excel as earlier reported can’t be entirely ignored.
