Jade Goody has months to live
London, Feb 14 (IANS) Doctors treating British reality television star Jade Goody for cancer have told her she has only months to live, her publicist Max Clifford said Saturday.
Goody, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year, was given the news Friday by her doctors at Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
"She was aware that the cancer had spread but they said unfortunately it was a question now of when rather than if and when she pressed them as to how long she'd got, they said 'months'," Clifford said.
The 27-year-old mother of two hit the headlines around the world in January 2007 when she was expelled from the British reality show Big Brother after complaints about her behaviour toward Indian Shilpa Shetty.
Thousands of people wrote in to Channel 4 television network claiming she was a bully and racist, but Goody vehemently denied the allegations.
Doctors first told her she had cancer while she was on the sets of the Indian version of Big Brother (Big Boss) in Mumbai Aug 2008, prompting her to withdraw from the show for treatment.
The cancer has since spread to her bowel, liver and groin.
Clifford said she is now getting her affairs in order and making plans for the future of her sons, aged four and five.
"She's so, so frightened. She's very tearful. She just keeps repeating that she doesn't want to die. She's so scared for the children. Her future has been looking so bleak over the last few months but now it's really bad," Clifford said.
"The reality is that doctors are just trying to keep her alive as long as possible so she can spend as much good quality time with her children.
"She really is a lovely girl with a big heart. It is absolutely heartbreaking. She is only young and she is desperately trying to put on a brave face and be positive for her children. She's a real fighter," Clifford added.
Last week doctors removed a cancerous tumour from her bowel.
