Imtiaz Ali's brothers set for debuts this year

By Hindustan Times

Some time ago, HT Café had reported that director Imtiaz Ali’s brother Sajid Ali would make his directorial debut with JA Entertainment (John Abraham’s production house). Now we’ve learned that the Love Aaj Kal (2009) director’s other sibling, Arif, will also move behind the camera.

“Arif is making his first film for Saif Ali Khan and Dinesh Vijan’s production house, Illuminati Films. Although details are being kept under wraps, Kareena Kapoor’s cousin, Armaan Jain (son of Reema Jain, and Randhir Kapoor’s nephew) may make his debut with the film,” says an insider.

Arif, like Imtiaz and Sajid, started off as a writer. He penned dialogues for the 2006 film Ahista Ahista. The film he will direct will, in all likelihood, see a new girl paired with Armaan. “Right now, no one from Illuminati is willing to give out details. They plan to make a big announcement soon,” adds the insider. Sources also suggest that the film is a rom-com. “It’s going to be a sweet film. Arif has a strong hold on his story and dialogues.

He has had a few informal discussions about it with his brothers. But it’s completely Arif’s baby. Imtiaz is proud of the fact that his brothers are getting into the industry,” adds the insider.

Despite repeated attempts, Saif, Dinesh and Imtiaz remained unavailable for comments.
