Imran Khan to play a Gujarati guy in Vikram Motwane’s next

He is already busy with back-to-back biggies (Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara (OUATIMD) followed by Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (GTPM) and Milan Talkies. And now, we hear that Imran Khan is set to bag another exciting project — Vikramaditya Motwane’s next.

Apparently titled Bhabesh, the film is believed to be a quirky take on a common man’s angst against the system and is based on a Gujarati novel. “The main protagonist — to be played by Imran — is Gujarati. It is a heroic character that will show him in a completely different light. For the same, he has already been through three story sittings with Vikram before the director went on a break. And whatever he has heard is really impressive. Things are almost confirmed, but Vikram’s return from his break (after Lootera’s success) is awaited to finalise and lock every other detail,” says an industry insider.

Vikram, who will be back in a week’s time, is likely to start the film in September, after the release of OUATIMD. “By that time, Imran would also have finished work on Punit’s (Malhotra) GTPM. He is very kicked about working with a young director like Vikram. Imran is looking forward to work with different filmmakers and diverse scripts,” adds the insider. Despite repeated attempts, Imran and Vikram couldn’t be reached for a comment. Imran played a Haryanvi in his last film — Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola.
