As everyone speculates that her marriage is on the rocks, actor Chitrangda Singh says that her husband, golfer Jyoti Randhawa is strongly by her side. “Our marriage is very basic and not so basic at the same time. I’ve known Jyoti since I was a child. Also, the advantage of knowing someone so
long is that we can comfortably allow each other space now. He is a sportsman, he understands ambition, knows about wanting to do something with yourself,” she says in an interview in the May issue of Vogue India.
Talking about touring with her hubby, Chitrangda, who has been married to Randhawa since 2001, says, “It’s a tough life. Week after week, playing tournaments, sometimes for five weeks in a row. And there are mood swings. It’s hard to go out there every day, knowing you have to give your best and nothing less will do. I was there for him then. Today, he’s there for me,” she says.
The 35-year-old actor says that her last film Desi Boyz has changed her image and fan base. “Earlier, I used to have CEOs coming up to me and talking about Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (her debut film). But after Desi Boyz, my fan base has shifted,” she says.
Chitrangda, who will next be seen in an item number in Shirish Kunder’s Joker, says, “I’m doing an item song in Joker, and people are wondering what that’s all about, and I’m like, ‘Nothing, I’m just having fun. Sure, it’s good to have a plan and not be so random, but it’s also great to do stuff that excites me.”
