I, Me Aur Main is my ode to women, says John Abraham
John Abraham seems to be in a great phase professionally. His latest release, Race 2, is doing well, his production house is expanding, and his next film is also up for release. In I, Me Aur Main, John plays Ishaan, a man who lives a very sheltered life. He's surrounded by women - his mother, sister and girlfriend - and he takes all of them for granted.
Now to promote the film, the makers have come up with a unique strategy in which John will interact only with female radio jockeys, journalists and TV anchors.
"This film is my ode to women. It's a must-watch for all of them, because when they see the film and my character, they'll realise that there's been an Ishaan at some point in their lives too. Women will say, 'Oh hell! I've experienced this,' and the men will get nudges. It's a coming-of-age film with a beautiful script," laughs the actor.
I hope I am selfless
John Abraham, who plays the self-centered Ishaan in I, Me Aur Main and takes the women in his life for granted, likes to believe that though there are some resemblances, he isn't like his character. John says, "I hope I'm selfless. But there's a little bit of Ishaan in me."
Ask him about working with Chitrangda Singh and Prachi Desai and he says, "I'm comfortable with Chitrangda. She and I have have made similar choices in life. She's mature and I respect her. Meanwhile, Prachi is a baby and her presence has brought a fresh burst of energy in the film. It's nice to have a combination of these two extremes."
John is also excited about doing the song, 'Na jaane kahan se aaya', which is a remixed version of the original, 'Na Jaane Kahan Se Aayi hain' from Sridevi's ChaalBaaz (1989). He says, "We were trying to create something on the lines of 'Who's that guy, where does he come from?' from Grease (1978), but we couldn't get it right. Then Bhushan Kumar (chairman and managing director of T-Series) suggested, why don't we remix the song from ChaalBaaz, change the lyrics a bit and use it? When I heard it, I realised it was perfect. It was just what we wanted."
I, Me Aur Main will release on March 1.
