I faced cultural terrorism too, says Akshay Kumar

After Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan voiced their support for actor Kamal Haasan in the religious controversy surrounding his film Vishwaroopam, Akshay Kumar, too, has spoken up for the actor.

“I have been through that myself during my films OMG! Oh My God and Khiladi 786. But I was lucky to come out of that. If we have a Censor Board to approve a film, we should respect their decision. Otherwise, in future, we’ll have to go through different organisations to get a film approved, which will be so wrong,” the actor said on a visit to the HT house on Thursday.

After a successful 2012 with hits such as Rowdy Rathore, OMG! Oh My God and Housefull 2 , the actor will now be seen in Neeraj Pandey’s next, Special 26. “When I read the script, I was bowled over. The film is full of twists and turns. The best part is that it is based on a real life incident (Mumbai’s Opera House heist), which took place in 1987.”

SpecialThe actor, who has sung a song, Mujh Mein Tu, in the film, says it was Pandey’s suggestion. “Once, I was humming, and Neeraj asked me: Gaana gayega (Will you sing)? I agreed on one condition, that we’ll remove it if I don’t like it,” he said.
