She may have enthralled the audience with her peppy and sensuous dance numbers in the ‘80s and ‘90s in films such as Mr India, Chandni, Chaalbaaz and Lamhe, but actor and ace dancer Sridevi is very sure that she will never ever do an item number in a film. “Aaj tak kabhie dekha hai mujhe item
number karte huye, toh aaj kyon karoon? (Have you ever seen me doing an item number ever, so why should I do one now?),” says the actor, when asked if she would consider jiving to a much-in-trend item song.
The 49-year-old, who was in Delhi recently, however adds that she is not “against” item numbers. “I love watching them, I wait for them when I see a movie. I loved Kareena’s Fevicol Se (Dabangg) and Katrina’s Chikni Chameli (Agneepath),” says the actor, who’s currently busy reading scripts to zero down on her next project, after her last cinematic outing, English Vinglish, got rave reviews. So, would she never ever dance in films now on? “If the script demands, why not!” she says.
