I’d give my arm to work with Ranbir: Anurag Kashyap

By Hindustan Times

He believes in casting actors than stars in his projects. But did one know that filmmaker, 40, is so impressed with Ranbir Kapoor’s on-screen skills that he has been messaging the actor since Ranbir’s early career days before finally roping him in his next, Bombay Velvet?

“Ranbir Kapoor is a tremendous actor. He is an actor at par with any of the trained actors. I’d give my right arm or left arm or anything to work with him. I’ve been messaging him since I saw Rocket Singh and Wake Up Sid, constantly saying, ‘I want to work with you. I don’t know on what. When I’ll have a script, I’ll tell you’... Now, I’m working with Ranbir in Bombay Velvet,” says the filmmaker.

Kapoor, 29, is equally elated. “Anurag has really been supportive of my work. He has been messaging me right from my Wake Up Sid days... He’s one of the leading directors of our country and I hope we make magic together. It’s one of the scripts that will really change the perception of me as an actor also,” he says.

Rumours were, however, rife that actors Aamir Khan and John Abraham were supposed to do the film before Ranbir. Asked about the same, Kashyap says, “It was all hyped. I was trying to get to Aamir. I never got to narrate the script to him. John was to do a series of films (with me) which is not getting made. Aise to hum log Shah Rukh ko bhi le rahe the beech me,” he jokes.
