Jennifer Lawrence named first presenter at Oscars

Jennifer Lawrence, who won the best actress prize Academy Award last year for her Silver Linings Playbook role, has been named the first presenter for the same event.

The announcement was made by the show's producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, and came about an hour after voting for the 86th Academy Awards began, the Independent reported.

The 23-year-old actress - a strong contender for the title of most popular actress of the moment - has also been nominated for her role in American Hustle.

Lawrence is the youngest three-time nominee in the history of the Oscars, she was previously nominated in 2011 for her role in Winter's Bone.

It is tradition that the previous year?s winners are the first to be announced as presenters for the next year.
