Looks like detective movies are the order of the day. So, even as Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan and Sushant Singh Rajput get ready to play private eyes, our desi export to Hollywood, Freida Pinto, will play the love interest of one. The Mumbai girl will be seen opposite Guy Pearce, who is best known for his roles in movies like Memento (2000) and LA Confidential (1997), in Mis-Fits. Guy plays a Brooklyn detective and his job is to find dead relatives.
“Freida has been trying to move out of her safe zone lately. That’s why she has been experimenting with directors like Woody Allen, Tarsem Singh, Julian Schnabel and Terrence Malick (for upcoming Knight of Cups). Also, a few days ago, she surprised audiences with a complete departure in look and appeal with her bold appearance in Bruno Mars’s single Gorilla. That’s why she wants to try her hands at acting in a comedy,” says an insider.
The comedy film will mark the debut of writer-director LD Napier. It is likely to go into production in 2014. Next year, besides the Christian Bale-Natalie Portman starrer Knight Of Cups, Freida will also be seen in Richard Raymond’s Desert Dancer. The movie is based on the true story of Iranian dancer Afshin Ghaffarian, who risked his life for his dream to become a dancer despite a nation-wide dancing ban. While Freida couldn’t be reached for a comment, her spokesperson confirms the news.
