Manish Malhotra presented his extravagant, exquisite bridal collection on Day Four of the ongoing Delhi Couture Week. Dressed in a beautiful lehenga-choli, Katrina Kaif made a striking appearance on the ramp.
Celeb presence was not limited to just Katrina. Karan Johar, Shabana Azmi, Satish Kaushik, Sussane Roshan, Shweta Bachchan Nanda and Aliya Bhatt cheered the designer from the front row.
The showstopper's outfit was as gorgeous as her. Katrina Kaif carried the heavily embellished ivory and gold bridal lehenga with élan. When asked if she would like to wear a similar one on her wedding day, the actress said: "I have no idea. As the time changes, you like different things. There was a time when I was very fond of green. This is a muted colour. So you have to take it in relation with when the time comes. I don't know when that time will come."
However, she won't opt for something too heavy: "I wouldn't be wearing this because it's very heavy. The work on this is very heavy. It has taken many months. It weighs about 10 kilos. But I love Indian clothes. I love the elegance of it."

Once a model herself, Katrina Kaif got nostalgic about her own modeling days: "I always enjoy seeing the models, the clothes on the ramp. It's always fun. When I used to be on the ramp as a model eight years ago, it always used to be in a certain pace. You had 3 seconds to put on your clothes and you're out there, running. It feels very very different."
Salman & marriage
Katrina Kaif will once again be seen opposite ex-flame Salman Khan in Ek Tha Tiger. She's seen asking him about his marriage in the promos. So did she ever ask him off screen as well? "I don't know, what you think (laughed). I think marriage is something very personal. It's a personal equation. I think it happens at the right time. Everyone has their own dreams and expectations. It's one of the few things in life that you cannot predict. It happens when it happens," said Katrina.
Aamir Khan keeps pushing Salman to marry, but Katrina doesn't do that, "No I don't ask him. Whatever makes him happy, he can do whatever he wants."
Apart from Katrina Kaif and her wedding plans, the show was definitely worth talking about. It began with a short two-and-a-half minute film directed by the designer himself. Force actor Vidyut Jamwal opened the show in an unbuttoned ivory sherwani. "I started the show with a guy who is so good looking. He was a model before, now he is an actor. It was all for you girls (laughed)."
The 20-piece couture was very vintage and took you back to the 60's era. Manish has taken forward his fascination with Kashmir from Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2011 to DCW 2012 as he incorporated intricate tilla and zari work in his collection. He also played with beads and Swarovski elements.

"It's Delhi Couture Week, it's all festive time, bridal time is starting. So as you can see it's all gararas and shararas in the collection, it's very fifties. The colours were corals and pinks, very old world sixties colours. I love those gararas and shararas. It has lots and lots of volume. I wanted the old world charm. It's one collection which has taken me the longest. There was a lot of work from Kashmir, the tilla and zari work," said the designer.

"The gararas actually took a lot of time, almost three months. We have specially dyed these colours like coral, gulabi pink which is very sixties. It was going away from red. Every bride wants to wear a lehenga so that's why so much volume, so it looks grand and more rich. My collection was for the bride- for her wedding, reception, sangeet," he added.
"For me the bride is beautiful, contemporary. Someone who's very sure and likes the old world charm of Indian clothes and carries it up in a modern age. I think that's what Katrina represents. She is beautiful, she looks great in Indian clothes and she's a modern girl," Manish explained.

The whole nation is abuzz with Saif-Kareena's wedding preparations. And since Manish is Kareena's favourite designer, is he doing her wedding clothes? "We are yet discussing what functions she's going to have. Just the other day I was at her house and I was discussing with her. So it's on the way." Kareena will be wearing Sharmila's bridal lehenga and is expected to wear Manish's creations for other ceremonies.
"I have to be in Paris for Ranbir's shoot of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. You're definitely going to see me at Wills India Fashion Week," concluded the designer.
As expected, Manish Malhotra's show was as grand as ever. With this, Day Four of the ongoing DCW (August 8-12) ended perfectly!
