As many as 15,000 women in Punjab have reportedly been abandoned in the last two decades by NRI grooms and forthcoming fiction show Gurbani will focus on the same by showing the struggle of such brides. Gurbani will bring the trials and tribulations of an abandoned bride through the
protagonist Gurbani, who is forced to marry a NRI.
"Gurbani is inspired by true stories and we researched for around a year. We wanted to highlight important issue of abandoned brides and how parents need to change their mindset and be more careful about the choices they make for their daughters," said Prashant Bhatt, weekday programming head, Colors.
Produced by Damini K. Shetty's Mystic Entertainment, the show's outdoors have been shot in Punjab.
