After this year’s hit, Rowdy Rathore, actor-turned-choreographer-turned-director Prabhu Deva will flag off his third Hindi film in August. The film, which is likely to be shot in Rajasthan, will see Kumar Taurani’s (owner of Tips) 24-year-old son Girish make his acting debut. Actor Shruti Haasan is rumoured to star opposite him, but Taurani refuses to confirm: “We’re still in talks and will make an announcement soon.”
Prabhu Deva says, “It’s an old commitment and will be a challenge for me because after Wanted (2009) and Rowdy Rathore (2012) with Salman (Khan) and Akshay (Kumar), I will be working with new actors. The boy (Girish) is good and I promise the film will be a commercial entertainer with a lot of song and dance. It should hit theatres next summer.”
Taurani adds that Prabhu is really excited about the project: “We signed him two years ago and, since then, we’ve had almost 40 meetings with him. Even though he’s a big name today, Prabhu remains down to earth. The film is a remake of one of the south Indian films he directed about seven years ago.”
Though Taurani refuses to divulge further details, the film is reportedly a remake of the award-winning Telugu movie, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, which starred south actors Siddharth and Trisha.
While Prabhu has been scouting for locations, Girish is getting into shape for the role, working with a trainer from South Africa. “He’s (Girish) also been taking dance lessons for the last one year with one of Prabhu’s assistants, who will debut as a choreographer with the film,” says Taurani. “They’ve gone through almost 30 routines and, by now, are confident of pulling anything off.”
