Mumbai, March 19 -- No Holi is complete without a rain-dance, bhang, colours and Holi enthusiasts dancing to popular Bollywood songs played by DJs. This year is no different.
DJ Akhtar, who will play during the Holi party at Water World at Essel Kingdom, says, "Holi, like all festive occasions, calls for hard-core commercial music. I have a list of favourites like 'Holi hai...', 'Rang barse...' and 'Khaike paan Benaras waala...' lined up. You'll be a fool not to play these tracks, since they alleviate the mood of the crowd. I'll also be playing 'Munni...' and 'Sheila...' as well."
DJ Amar of Polly Esthers, Colaba will be playing his standard retro night on Saturday. "I'll throw in a few spins of 'Paan Benaraswaala...' that I've been working on to salute the festival," he says.
DJ Hensen, who will be playing at Gadda Da Vida, Novotel on the same night for a pre-Holi bash, will also churn out club favourites. "I will also play 'I got a feeling...' by the Black Eyed Peas, besides 'Holi hai...'. I like the vibe of these songs. People really want to dance to these tracks," he says.
Besides these vintage tracks from the '70s and '80s, DJ CI-JO who will play at Vie Lounge on Saturday has discovered some Bhojpuri songs to add to the list. "There's this song called 'Pichkari rasdar...' that is really fun. I'll throw in a spin or two of that," he says.
