Actor Deepika Padukone doles out her beauty and fitness mantra How do you define beauty?
Beauty to me means confidence. Anything that you do with confidence will look beautiful. How important is it to look beautiful?
Looking good is important, especially if you are working in the glamour industry.
Is it a good to indulge in a sporting activity to stay fit and glowing?
Absolutely, I believe parents and even schools and colleges should encourage sports. It’s a great way to stay fit, develop one’s personality and look your best.
What is the biggest beauty myth?
That one needs to slap extra makeup to look beautiful. Makeup should be used only slightly to enhance one’s features.
What is your beauty regime like?
For my hair, I make sure I invest in regular deep conditioning massages with coconut-based hair oil. It’s a great way to keep your hair voluminous, thick and full of bounce without much sweat. This is my non-negotiable haircare ritual. For my skin I use a moisturiser with SPF in the day time, a heavy deep moisturising cream at night, plenty of water, balanced meals and adequate sleep.
Five must-have beauty products in your handbag?
A good moisturiser with sun block, concealer, mascara and a lip tint.
One beauty product you never step out without?
I cannot think of stepping out of home without wearing a sun block.
Tell us about the diet you follow on a regular basis?
I go for a balanced meal like egg whites or a typical south Indian breakfast. In lunch I take dal, veggies, chapatis, chicken/ fish etc. I make sure to eat something every two hours.
How much do you spend on beauty products, spa and parlour services?
I believe in investing in good products that suit my skin. It need not be the most expensive one though. In fact, sometimes home remedies work better.
The easiest way to look pretty and glam is...
Wear an Indian outfit, keep it simple, don’t accessorize too much, wear a bindi and most importantly, feel confident.
