Director Abhinav Kashyap who made a blockbuster debut with Dabangg (2010), may have missed the opportunity to direct the sequel of the film, but he’s already started working on another film, produced by Viacom 18. His brother and fellow director Anurag Kashyap reveals, “Abhinav is ready
with the script. He hasn’t finalised the actors. He’ll be starting the film early next year.”
Anurag too is returning behind the camera after That Girl in Yellow Boots, which released last year but was completed in 2010. He’ll begin shooting for Bombay Velvet in October with Ranbir Kapoor in the lead. “I have 11 films under production, so I couldn’t concentrate on this one. After three years, I’m going to direct,” says Anurag.
He also denies signing Anushka Sharma opposite Ranbir in the film: “This is rubbish. I’ve only signed Ranbir. I’m in process of roping in a female lead but haven’t done anything as yet.”
He clarifies that unlike his other production, Gangs of Wasseypur that will release in two parts, Bombay Velvet is part of a trilogy of three different films. “Each will show Mumbai in different times — ’60s, ’70s and 2000. I’m making the first but don’t know when I’ll come out with the other two parts,” explains the filmmaker.
Anurag also adds that this will be biggest film so far, only saying, “There will be lots of computer graphics involved.”
