Cult TV series to air again!

By HT

Mumbai, July 19 -- Twenty-seven years after it first hit telly screens across India, Buniyaad, the popular series which dealt with the 1947 partition, will return to Doordarshan for its sixth airing from next Thursday.

The drama series has been telecast on various channels previously, but this time what's special is that producer-director Ramesh Sippy will get the cast together for a grand party to relive their golden days.

Sippy says, "It's a classic and therefore there's a recall value among people who watched it. I am hoping this time, younger people will watch it too."

The plans for a grand party are currently being made. "The airing date was so sudden that there hasn't been much time to prepare. But we will do our best. I am not one for grand parties, but this time I felt like we should do it. The talk of the Partition always keeps coming up, even during times of peace. This is a good way to remind people of all that had happened. How our people have lived and worked together for this day," says the veteran filmmaker.
