Mumbai, Nov. 22 -- Chitrangda Singh is thrilled with her first item number for Shrish Kunder's film Joker. The 3D song was choreographed by Shirish's wife, Farah Khan. "Farah has fantastic instincts and an eye for detail. She knows just what will make the difference to a shot," the actor marvels.
"Her moves are effortless and yet so sensuous. Having done a three-minute song with a her as a choreographer, I'm now looking forward to doing a two-hour film with her as a director." This Friday, she has Rohit Dhawan's Desi Boyz coming up, in which she has two tracks, 'Allah maaf kare...' and 'Tu mera hero...' as well as a salsa piece.
The Smita Patil look-alike, who all these years has been stuck in the 'serious' cinema mould is thrilled with her first full-on commercial outing. "Lots of offers had come my way. I was waiting for the right project and the right time to break away. I was getting frustrated saying 'no' when Rohit came to me and I realised I enjoyed singing and dancing."
Chitrangda, who has trained in Kathak, recalls how as a kid, she would come home from school, put on the music and start dancing. "I wouldn't even have time for lunch," she laughs. "It's been a while since I danced, but I guess I have a little rhythm that came back to me. I didn't get much time to rehearse, but I still managed to pull off the songs. If they can't convince people that I can dance, I don't know what can."
While promoting Desi Boyz, she has been doing a lot of impromptu dancing and singing too. She even sang for the title track of Yeh Saali Zindagi earlier. However Chitrangda has no plans of singing again, and is definitely not in the running to play singer Asha Bhosle in a film, as has been reported. "I was never supposed to do the film. It's not among my forthcoming projects," she says, adding, "I just said it would be fantastic if someone made a film on Ashaji. It was one of the shortest conversations I've had."
