Still basking in the success of her latest outing Yeh Saali Zindagi (YSZ), dusky beauty Chitrangada Singh is over the moon. “It’s fantastic. I couldn’t have asked for anything better at the moment and I have to thank Sudhir (Mishra) for it,” says an elated Singh.
That’s not it for the dormant actor, who has now three mainstream plum projects in hand with John Abraham, Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal respectively.
“I’m glad that I’ve finally managed to bag projects that I want to be a part of. I’m really looking forward to this,” said the actor, who calls her landing into acting a “fortunate accident”. However, with just four films in eight years including Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, Kal: Yesterday And Tomorrow and Sorry Bhai!, didn’t she stereotype herself with a particular kind of genre?
“I am fond of these (alternate cinema) kind of films. But it’s not that I’ve restricted myself to doing only this. I am doing something different with John,” pat comes the reply. “It is about a live-in couple who are going through a bad time where love has kind of run out. Then there’s a comedy Desi Boyz with Akshay, John and Deepika.” Her third film is with Rampal, produced by Prakash Jha and directed by Mishra.
But what happened to the rest of the films in her kitty like Basra, Dhruv and Driver? “Unfortunately none of those look like these will be made this year. At the moment it’s kind of deferred,” she says.
Chitrangada on rumours, controversies...
The minute I start defending, it means there is something wrong. Everything’s absolutely fine and I’m very happy.
Credit of YSZ title track
Abhishek Ray came much later. The title track was already made by then. It’s wrong of him because he was always after Sudhir for a chance.
Link-up with Sudhir
It’s kind of disgusting because the kind of rapport I share with Sudhir is on a lot of respect and trust.
Aamir on wishlist
He only does one film a year so it’s tough. If I get that, it’ll be amazing. He understands the business and art together.
