Mumbai, April 1 -- Vivek Oberoi, who has often lent his name to charitable causes, recently roped in some of his industry friends to raise funds for Children Across Borders, an NGO that works for the betterment of underprivileged kids.
The actor, who was recently invited by the NGO for an auction to be held in Tampa, USA, sought help from Hrithik Roshan, Vidya Balan and Freida Pinto for the same.
"Vivek was asked to bring along some memorabilia or personal belonging to raise funds for the NGO. He thought that involving more actors would help the cause further," says a source close to the actor.
Vivek requested the actors to autograph a guitar, and they willingly did so. "When he told them about the initiative, they readily agreed to help. He was sure that since Bollywood films are popular in the US, people there would know of these actors," says the source, adding, "The guitar was auctioned for 16 lakh and the amount was donated to the NGO."
When contacted, Vivek confirmed the news and said, "I just spoke to them (Hrithi, Vidya and Freida) about the cause and the work the organisation was doing, and they were more than happy to autograph the guitar for the auction."
