Mumbai, May 28 -- Vivek Oberoi is elated to have attended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony on Monday (May 26).
Talking to us from New Delhi, where the event took place, the actor says, "It was an incredible feeling to be at the ceremony. There was positivity in the air, and it was nice to see people from all walks of life in attendance. I just feel 'achhe din aa gaye hain' (good days are here). It was also nice to see all the SAARC leaders sitting at a round table, having tea and discussing various topics."
Adding that he got the opportunity to interact with Modi, he says, "I fondly call him Narendra bhai. I congratulated him and told him that he has given hope to the people who dream of a new beginning. He thanked me and said, 'Every Indian is with me in this dream'."
Vivek got a chance to meet Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif too. "He told me that 95 per cent of his country's population had backed his decision to come to India for the ceremony. They genuinely want peace and were looking forward to this, hoping that it leads to a better future for both countries," says the actor, who had a chat with Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa as well.
Ask him which areas need the new government's attention the most and he says, "We need to tackle inflation, get rid of unemployment, and bring the economy back on track."
