Mumbai, March 3 -- After inaugurating actor-painter Amol Palekar's painting exhibition in Delhi on February 24, actor Vidya Balan will visit the capital again to be part of the auction on March 4. The funds raised from the auction will be donated towards child right activist Kailash Satyarthi's Bachpan Bachao Andolan.
"Amol is doing a noble thing by donating the funds raised through the auctions of his paintings. The organisers felt that Vidya's presence will further encourage the process further," says a source. The actor has shown interest in purchasing some of Palekar's works herself. "Vidya is an admirer of Palekar and now that she knows that he paints, too, she has expressed a desire to collect some of his works," adds the source.
When contacted, Vidya confirmed the news, saying, "Gol Maal (Palekar acted in the film; 1979) is my all-time favourite, and I was amazed to know that Mr Amol Palekar paints. Importantly, the proceeds from the sale of the paintings are going to be donated to the Bachpan Bachao Andolan. Art is being used for a larger purpose; I am happy to be a part of it."
