Mumbai, May 9 -- Vidya Balan has been invited to talk about the portrayal of women in Indian cinema at the on-going Women Economic Forum 2015 in Goa.
The actor, who has played several women-centric roles in movies such as No One Killed Jessica (2011), The Dirty Picture (2011) and Kahaani (2012), will speak at a session on May 10.
"Vidya will talk about the portrayal of women in Indian cinema. She was approached by the organisers - All Ladies League, an NGO - last week and she instantly gave her nod," says a source.
Many dignitaries, including authors, politicians, and entrepreneurs from across the globe will also talk about women's empowerment at the event.
"She was supposed to dub for her upcoming film on the same day, but she adjusted her schedule to attend the event," adds the source.
Vidya will also be given an award post her session. "She will be honoured as the Iconic Woman of the Decade for her excellent portrayal of characters that empower women," adds the source.
When contacted, Vidya confirmed the news, and said, "I'm happy to be invited to speak at the event. I believe this international forum will be a great place to showcase the potential of women's leadership globally."
