Varun's heart and soul connect!

Mumbai, Aug. 9 -- In the five that he has been in Bollywood, Varun Dhawan has left an impression on audiences as a versatile actor.
He started his career with the film, Student of The Year (2012), but then went on to dabble in different genres with films such as Badlapur (2015), ABCD 2 (2015) and Dishoom (2016). However, the actor has often been loved and appreciated a lot as a romantic hero, especially with hits such as Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania.
But for Varun, the script is more important than getting labelled as a 'romantic actor'. "I always look for the heart and soul in a script. A film has to have a soul. And when I say 'heart', it has to have a 'heartbeat' that affects you and literally quickens your heartbeat," says Varun, adding that if he likes a story, he loves to tell it to everyone else in his circle.
The Main Tera Hero (2014) actor feels one ought to feel something from a script. He says, "It can come from anywhere [in the script], because it's not a mathematical equation. It's like how you narrate a story; you can narrate it in a very boring way or the most exciting manner."
Varun also believes that if one doesn't feel any emotion while watching a film, then there's something wrong with it. "It can be any emotion - you could get upset, angry or be happy, but you must feel something," says the actor.
Varun will soon start shooting for an "unusual" romantic film, October with film-maker Shoojit Sircar. He says, "I like different genres, and as an actor; I want to dabble in every genre. I can't explain how different a love story October is going to be. I don't know what genre to put this film in. As a creative person, it's very unusual and new. And you hear of stories such as this one. I am excited and thrilled about that," says Varun, who will next be seen in the sequel of Judwaa (1997).
