Mumbai, April 18 -- Varun Dhawan is set to be the only Bollywood celebrity to participate in the United Nations Young Changemakers Conclave, which is taking place in the city today (April 18).
The event will see participation from politicians, comedians, social activists and Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi.
"When representatives from the UN contacted me, I was initially apprehensive, since I don't know much about the subject. But when they explained how I represent the youth of the nation, I agreed. It's a great opportunity to connect with the youth, so I am excited," says Varun, who will speak about the impact of social-networking platforms on the youth, and how they can be assimilated within society to improve lives.
Ask the actor if he has prepared a speech, and he says, "I am going to speak from my heart. And come to think of it, who better than me to talk about such a topic? In the last week itself, I have experienced two contrasting sides of Twitter. On one hand, The Rock (actor-wrestler Dwayne Johnson) tweeted to wish me on my birthday, and on the other, my film's poster got leaked on the same platform."
