Mumbai, Dec. 29 -- If everything had gone according to plan, Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui would have shared screen space in David Dhawan's hit, Main Tera Hero earlier this year. However, their dates didn't work out and the role offered to Nawaz was eventually played by Arunoday Singh. But, the actors got the chance to work together and they will be seen in Sriram Raghavan's next, Badlapur.
"David was keen that Nawazuddin be a part of his film as he had Nawaz in mind for that character, which was of an antagonist. In fact, he even had a few meetings with him, but somehow things didn't work out," says an insider.
When contacted, David confirms this, saying, "Yes, I had offered Arunoday's part to Nawaz. I am really fond of him. We had discussed the role with him extensively, but somehow, things didn't fall into place as he had some dates issues at that time. But that hasn't affected my affection for Nawaz at all."
The film-maker still has plans to rope Nawaz in for his future films. "I am very sure that I will work with him in the future. He is a simple man who has no airs about himself, which is a great sign for any actor. Varun is also very fond of him," says the veteran director, who will make his next, again starring Varun, sometime in 2016.
