If the box office collection of Varun Dhawan's film Badlapur is any measure of his marketability, the idea to cast him in an uncharacteristically gritty role seems to be a masterstroke.
The film maintained its momentum at the ticket windows even on the third day of its release, netting a total of Rs. 24 crore in three days. On Monday, trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about Badlapur’s good show at the ticket window.
Badlapur’s business saw a jump of more than 20% on Saturday.
Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Badlapur is a revenge saga between two of its lead characters, played by Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film also features Yami Gautam and Huma Qureshi in important roles. It was released on February 20, 2015.
