I trust Sajid as much as he trusts me: Tamanaah Bhatia

What was touted to be her big Bollywood launch in the Sajid Khan directed Himmatwala, unfortunately failed to rock the box office, last year; but actor Tamanaah Bhatia managed to make an impression, nevertheless. So much so that the actor has her hands full this year with two big projects, one of which is helmed by Khan. Ask the 24-year-old if she’s worried about the fate of this film, and unperturbed she, says, “Not at all. Sajid is a wonderful filmmaker... his films have done very well in the past. I have as much trust in him as he has in me.”

The actor, who’ll be seen alongside Saif Ali Khan in this film, is considered as one of the leading stars of regional cinema in South India with hits such as Happy Days (2007), Ayan (2009), Paiyaa (2010) Siruthai (2011) and Veeram (2014) in her kitty. Ask her, if after seeing so much success, the Himmatwala debacle left her shattered, and she says that it wasn’t the first time that she saw failure.

“I wasn’t shocked because these things have happened with me even in the past... some films work, some don’t, but it’s more important to not be bogged down by failure,” says the actor, who had entered the film industry in 2005, when she was barely 15.

“I got my first film offer when I was in class 8, and I did my first film at 15,” she says. So, was it fun being famous in school? “I wasn’t famous because nobody knew about that film (her actual Bollywood debut, Chand Sa Roshan Chehra). It flopped,” laughs the spirited girl, who will also be seen alongside Akshay Kumar in the film, It’s Entertainment. Simultaneously, she’s also shooting for a Tamil and a Telugu film.
