Mumbai, April 23 -- Taapsee Pannu is gearing up to join the bandwagon of actors who have donned the producer's hat. The 27-year-old will be co-producing the Bollywood remake of the Tamil film, Kanchana (2011).
"It is a comedy-thriller, and it is one of the most successful franchises in the Tamil film industry. The remake rights for the film are with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Taapsee will be co-producing it with him," says a source close to the actor.
The sequel of the Tamil film recently released, and Taapsee plays a pivotal role in it. "Even before the sequel released, she had decided that she will produce the Hindi remake of the first film," reveals the source, adding that she has already started putting together a team for the project.
When contacted, Taapsee didn't divulge any details, but confirmed the news, and said, "It will be a great experience. I'm working on things and they are shaping well."
