Mumbai, Jan. 10 -- Director Neeraj Pandey, who is helming the biopic on Mahendra Singh Dhoni that will see Sushant Singh Rajput play the role of the cricketer, seems to be in no rush to rope in an actress for the film.
In fact, he is yet to even finalise the secondary cast. This is because the director is currently busy concentrating on Sushant's training and preparation for his part.
A source says that Neeraj wants to make sure Sushant looks convincing and is comfortable with playing cricket before they start shooting. "Neeraj, along with his team, has been working on Sushant's look, mannerisms and training. Sushant, too, has been training for up to six hours a day. He has been learning to replicate Dhoni's exact playing style," says the source.
The director remained unavailable for a comment, but the spokesperson of the film, confirmed the news.
Although there has been no formal announcement regarding the female lead of the film, there was some speculation about Alia Bhatt being roped in to play Dhoni's wife, Sakshi. But a source reveals that the makers are yet to sign anyone.
"Since it is a biopic, all the actors need to have some sort of resemblance to the people they are going to play on screen. So, the casting takes a lot more time and requires the lot more attention from the director," says the source, adding that Neeraj has also been occupied with the Akshay Kumar-starrer, Baby, during this time.
