Mumbai, Dec. 17 -- Back in 2011, when the trailer for the sequel to Sunny Deol's Ghayal (1990) was showcased, it generated a lot of buzz. However, since then, the project has undergone a lot of changes.
First, Piyush Mishra, who was writing the screenplay, walked out. Then, the original director Ashwini Chaudhary was replaced by Rahul Rawail. Later, even Rahul opted out of the film, and Sunny stepped in to direct it himself.
And now, there's seems to be yet another change. A recent report published in a daily claimed that, Soha Ali Khan was romantically paired opposite Sunny. But, though Khan confirms being part of the project, she denies the report of being cast opposite the actor.
She says, "It is an action thriller, and ours is not a romantic pairing. I actually have a substantive and integral role in the film." Soha doesn't seem to be worried about being just a prop in an action film where the male lead gets all the meaty scenes. "Not in the least. I've heard the script. Mine is the female lead; it's a great role," she says, adding, "I loved Ghayal. I'm excited to be part of the sequel. I have always had immense respect for Sunnyji and his entire family, and have been welcomed to the production with so much warmth."
