Travel helps me evolve as an actor: Sidharth Malhotra

New Delhi, Nov. 2 -- Despite hectic movie schedules and endorsements, actor Sidharth Malhotra (right) says he makes sure to plan at least two holidays in a year.

The 30-year-old says that travelling helps an actor evolve. "One gains experience from travelling and that comes in handy for an actor and performer. If you don't see new places, meet new people or see new things, then you are being stagnant. I take out time for one trip with my family and one with my friends every year. I balance it out," he says.

The actor adds that this love for travelling stems from the way he has been brought up. "I think it comes from my background. My father was in the merchant navy when I was growing up, and we used to go and visit him. We would plan every summer vacation on the ship. So till I was 13-14 years old, I would visit different countries and ports. I think this has been ingrained in me since childhood. In fact, I would like to keep up and try new destinations," says Sidharth.

In fact, he also makes sure to explore new places even when he is visiting them for work. "Not only travelling, I like to see places too. So when I am shooting in a new place, I make sure I step outside and go around exploring the place. I did that even when we were shooting in Glasgow recently," says the actor, who is working on his next film alongside Alia Bhatt and Fawad Khan, and also has a film lined up with Katrina Kaif.
