New Delhi, March 25 -- Known for his stellar acts in umpteen Bollywood blockbusters including Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965), Deewar (1976) and Kabhi Kabhie (1977), veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, 77, has been chosen for the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award this year.
Apart from being an exemplary performer, Kapoor is also known for making critically-acclaimed films such as Junoon (1978) and Kalyug (1980), and directing a host of plays, making him a living legend.
Awarded with several honours in the past, he is no less humbled to have been chosen for this prestigious title.
"I have never been crazy for awards but yes, I am certainly very happy that I am being given the coveted Dadasaheb Phalke award. At this juncture, I remember my father (Prithviraj Kapoor), elder brothers Rajsaab (Raj Kapoor) and Shammiji (Shammi Kapoor) and of course my anchor for life, my wife Jennifer," said Shashi over phone.
