New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- Actor Shahid Kapoor recently had a roller coaster of a day when his phone kept ringing all through the day for two varied reasons. First, there were reports of his engagement to a girl, who is not from the film industry, that got everybody startled.
Then, incidentally, the same evening he bagged three awards for his performance in Haider that once again made everybody call him incessantly. A source close to the 33-year-old says that Shahid apparently woke up to a sea of calls congratulating him on his rumoured engagement. "He got calls from friends and even distant relatives, who reached out to him to find out about the mystery girl. Shahid spent the entire first half of the day clarifying these rumours," says the source.
At the awards night, the actor bagged three trophies for his stellar performance in Vishal Bhardwaj's Haider - an adaptation of William Shakespeare's tragedy, Hamlet. In the film, set during the Kashmir conflict of 1995, Shahid played the titular role alongside Tabu and Shraddha Kapoor.
"So, once again, Shahid had calls pouring in to congratulate him on bagging three awards in one night. Of course, he was euphoric and tried to receive most of the calls, but he was like, 'This is a phone-a-thon day!'" adds the source.
