Mumbai, Aug. 17 -- Over a decade after making his debut, Shahid Kapoor is finally set to share screen space with his father, Pankaj Kapur. Although the latter directed his son in Mausam (2011), they haven't acted together yet.
Now Kapoor has agreed to act in Vikas Bahl's next - not as the father of Shahid, but that of his co-star, Alia Bhatt. "After talks with Karan Johar and Govinda failed, the makers had approached Kapur a few days back. And now, he has decided to go ahead with the offer. It's a very interesting part," says an insider. The same part had previously been offered to director Sajid Khan as well. Adding that Shahid is very excited to work with his father, the insider says, "They have already discussed their roles with each other.
They have several scenes together." A few days back, speaking about his father, Shahid had told HT Cafe, "He set a benchmark; I should learn from it. But I have my own journey. I feel fortunate that I can spend time with him and learn from him." While Vikas couldn't be reached for a comment, Shahid remained noncommittal. "It's not my place to comment on any of the casting decisions," he says.
