Mumbai, Oct. 2 -- The biggies have watched Haider, and they can't stop raving about it. The Shahid Kapoor-starrer, which is film-maker Vishal Bhardwaj's adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet, has drawn a standing ovation from veteran Bollywood stars, who recently watched a special screening of the film.
"Filmmakers in the distant future will adapt Vishal Bhardwaj. #Prophecy #Haider. Chutzpah! #Haider. Can't get the film off my mind, (sic)" tweeted film-maker Hansal Mehta in praise for the film, which has an ensemble cast that also includes Shraddha Kapoor, Tabu and Kay Kay Menon in pivotal roles.
"One of the important films of this year and many years to come. If these kind of films become hits, all film-makers will make more such good films," added film-maker Anurag Basu.
While Shahid's intense portrayal as the protagonist is already being predicted as a potential National Awardwinning performance, the gorgeous locales of Kashmir - its beauty contradicting the turmoil within the characters - is bound to keep viewers hooked as they get woven in the love, hate, revenge and chutzpah of Haider.
Co-produced by UTV Motion Pictures and VB Pictures, the film is slated to release today, October 2. With this film, Bhardwaj also completes his Shakespearean trilogy after Maqbool (2003) and Omkara (2006).
