New Delhi, April 18 -- According to actor Shah Rukh Khan, there is a lot that needs to be done in the field of documentary films in our country.
He says, "I think India lacks a lot in making documentaries. There are so many wonderful subjects and some of them are very difficult to deal with. I think documentary filmmakers should be encouraged a lot more in this country and we should go to international platforms and win awards.
He adds, "There are films which are educative, which talk about real cases and issues, but I think there has to be a clear demarcation between what is entertaining commercial cinema, parallel cinema, and the third part of it, which is informative cinema."
The 49-year-old was recently conferred with Global Icon of the Year award at an event, and he is happy with the honour. The My name is Khan (2011) actor says, "I am very grateful; I am really happy and very proud," he says.
Drawing a connect between cinema and a country's economy, he says, "If the economy of the country is doing well, the first thing that people want to know is about the cinema, the culture or the music. So, I have been in a lucky place at the right time actually....It is a reflection on what the country has achieved. It has created a name for itself in the world and I have been one of the messengers," says the actor, who will next be seen in Raees alongside Mahira Khan.
