Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year ran into legal trouble after singer Surj alleged that the song Sharabi, that has now been recorded by Surj's brother Manj for the film and is credited to Vishal Dadlani, was owned by Surj. However, Manj says, "The track was legally handed over (to Shah Rukh) with his (Surj's) consent and legal paperwork."
Ram Gopal Varma
Ram Gopal Varma has been slapped with a legal notice by producer Boney Kapoor, for using Kapoor's wife, actor Sridevi's name as the title of his next, without her permission. Kapoor felt that viewers will be misled into believing that Sridevi was a part of the film. Varma also reacted to the legal notice by posting an explanation on his Facebook page.
Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, whose upcoming film starring Aamir Khan is already creating buzz, is miffed with brands who are encashing on his film's popularity to sell their products. "It's amusing that an element we created is being used to sell potatoes, even before the release of the film. It's a legal matter and needs to be tackled appropriately," says Hirani, who will soon meet his legal advisor on the issue.
Jackie Shroff's wife Ayesha Shroff has sent a legal notice to her ex-business partner Sahil Khan, asking for 8 crore that she had invested in their business, that has not closed down. Bandra Police is looking for Khan, who has also allegedly sent threat messages to Ayesha over the dispute. Khan is reportedly absconding now.
Filmmaker Kunal Kohli has decided to file a defamation case against writer Jyoti Kapoor, who has accused him of plagiarism. Kohli is currently shooting a film and Kapoor claims that the film is based on a story that she narrated to him. However, Kohli says she is trying to extort money out of him, and that Kapoor's lawyer has already sent him a letter asking for ' 2 crore. Kohli continues to shoot his film.
