Mumbai, Feb. 9 -- Those who have worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali are aware of his eccentricities. Reports of the film-maker's fits of anger on his sets are common. But with some actors, with whom he feels a connection, he rarely raises his voice.
As a matter of fact, while working with them, he barely even speaks to them. According to an insider, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one such actor who Bhansali shares a great rapport with. And now, Deepika Padukone seems to have joined this short list.
Apparently, while he was shooting with Aishwarya for films such as Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Devdas (2002) and Guzaarish (2010), Bhansali would rarely talk to her. "He would merely raise an eyebrow or twitch, and Aishwarya would immediately understand whether he was satisfied with her performance in a particular scene or not," says the insider.
The director has apparently established a similar connection with Deepika. They worked together for the first time on Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (GKRRL; 2013). Now, she is shooting for Bhansali's next, which is a period film that also stars Ranveer Singh. Bhansali says, "A connection has to go beyond words. Between the creator and the creation, everything can't be explained in words... A moment can't be explained." He adds, "With Deepika, first of all, when I see her on the monitor, I find myself hypnotised. I use the bare minimum words with her... my brief is just a line or two."
While talking about working with Ranveer, who also starred in GKRRL, Bhansali says, "With Ranveer, I feel we have a much better understanding than the last time around. I'm still discovering him. But, yes, it (the connection) was the strongest with Aishwarya; it was also there with Rani (Mukerji). I'm very happy that I'm working with people with whom I have to talk less."
