Mumbai, Feb. 25 -- Work comes first for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, even if it is on his birthday. The director turned 52 yesterday (February 24), but a party was the last thing on his mind.
The cast and crew of his next wanted to throw a bash for him, but before any of them could plan anything, Bhansali cancelled all their plans.
A source close to the director says, "On Sunday (February 23), the film's team wanted to throw Bhansali a party. Though he was happy with the gesture, he requested them to postpone the plan as he wanted to finish the schedule."
The director has been shooting for his upcoming period film in Rajasthan for the last few days. The schedule has been hectic as they've been clocking in between 14-17 hours a day to shoot certain portions of a war sequence.
The source says the working conditions have also been tough for the crew due to the scorching heat. Hence, Bhansali is keen on wrapping up work as fast as possible.
"He felt it (the party) would be a bit of a distraction and would break the flow of the shoot. He politely told his team that once they wrap up the schedule and return to Mumbai, they will have a belated birthday party," adds the source.
