Mumbai, March 9 -- Director Sanjay Gupta has banned smoking on the sets of his next film that marks the comeback of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and also stars Irrfan Khan, among other actors.
According to an insider, the decision has resulted in his crew smoking less. "Those who want to get a smoke have to step out of the set and go outside. As a result, they don't end up smoking too often because working on a film doesn't always leave them with enough time to take too many breaks," adds the source.
Meanwhile, the unit members have not objected to the move. "They know that smoking is a bad habit and is also harmful to non-smokers present on the set," adds the source.
Apparently, Sanjay's children often visit his sets and he doesn't want them to be influenced by anyone smoking around them.
When contacted, the film-maker confirmed the story, saying, "My kids come on the set and it is not good to expose them to such a bad habit. Other than that, many people have reduced the number of cigarettes they used to smoke ever since smoking has been banned on the set."
