After hugging it out on Eid earlier this year, two of Bollywood's most powerful Khans - Salman and Shah Rukh might once again be seen hobnobbing together in a couple of weeks.
The occasion - Salman's doting sister Arpita's wedding with Delhi-based businessman and veteran Congress leader and former union minister Pandit Sukh Ram's grandson, Ayush Sharma. Yes, sources say that after the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and ex, Katrina Kaif, it is in deed Salman's arch rival, Shah Rukh, who is on the guest list of what's been dubbed as one of the most expensive celebrity weddings that'll take place in Hyderabad on the 18th of this month, followed by a grand function on the 19th, and a reception in Mumbai on 21st.
The wedding, to be held at the Taj Falaknuma - one of the most picturesque heritage hotels of the country, nestled in the royal palace of the Nizams - just 5km away from the famous Charminar, the gathering is expected to be as grand as it's venue. "At R1crore per day, the family has booked the entire hotel for R2cr for two days. All 60 rooms have been booked much in advance so that no outside reservations could be made on these two dates," says a source from Hyderabad, who's closely monitoring the arrangements. Interestingly, the source also reveals that actor Dia Mirza, who recently tied the knot at a farmhouse in the Capital, too, had her eyes on this venue. "The deal didn't fall through eventually so the plan was dropped," says the source.
Meanwhile Bollywood biggies including Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan have found their way into the list of invitees for Arpita's wedding, says our source, adding that invites have also been sent out to the biggies of the Telugu film industry and to the high-profile business and political families of Telangana. "Actors Venkatesh, Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Suresh Babu have all been invited with their families. Among the businessmen, the Reddys including Pinky Reddy and her family, Apollo hospital founder-owner Dr Prathap C. Reddy are also on the guest list. All are expected to attend except for Suresh Babu because he is keeping the 40-day Ayappa ritual during which he cannot attend social functions," says the source.
The menu has been crafted by the famous chefs of the heritage hotel. "It'll be an exotic global spread but Hyderabadi specialities like the biryani, khubani ka meetha and shahi tukda will also be there," says our source.
Meanwhile, back in Mumbai, preparations are on in full swing. While Arpita's wedding trousseau has been designed by Manish Malhotra, her elder brother, actor-filmmaker Sohail’s wife Seema along with Salman's ex Sangeeta Bijlani, who is still very close to the family, is helping the bride finish the last leg of shopping her ensembles. The haldi ceremony is on the 16 after which the family is flying down to Hyderabad.
